Smoke Alarm Safety Inspections
Mandatory annual smoke alarm inspections, expertly conducted by a highly experienced, A-Grade Electrician to keep your property safe and legally compliant.

Mandatory Inspections
Every 12 Months
All buildings constructed after 1 August 1997 must have hard-wired smoke alarms with a battery back-up. Buildings built before that date can have a battery-powered smoke alarm. Smoke alarms must meet the Australian Standard AS 3786.
Under the Victorian Residential Tenancies Regulations 2021 and the Building Act 1993, smoke alarm safety checks are a strict, mandatory annual requirement for all rental properties. A faulty, expired, or poorly positioned alarm leaves occupants vulnerable in a fire, exposes landlords to massive legal liability, and risks voiding landlord insurance policies.
At Potenza Electrical Compliance, we eliminate this administrative burden. We handle tenant communication politely, schedule visits efficiently, and ensure that every single alarm is perfectly operational to protect lives and secure your investments.

Annual Smoke Alarm Safety
Service Checklist
Our safety checks strictly adhere to the standards enforced by Consumer Affairs Victoria and Fire Rescue Victoria. Every single inspection includes:
- Rigorous Functionality & Decibel Testing
We test every alarm to ensure the sensors respond immediately and the audible siren meets the legal decibel output thresholds required to wake sleeping residents in an emergency. - Compliant Placement Verification
We audit the layout of the property to ensure alarms are installed in the legally correct zones, hallways, and levels as mandated by Victorian building codes. - Battery Maintenance & Expiry Logging
We install fresh 9V backup batteries where required and check the manufacture dates on every unit to ensure no alarm has passed its strict 10-year legal lifespan
